In 2008, citizenM opened their first modular-built hotel - a 223 room hotel at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands. By 2015 they needed to expand the hotel and partnered with VBC to add a 123 room extension onto the project. The modular units for this project were fully furnished by Polcom Furniture, our furniture subsidiary, and were set in just two weeks in May of 2015. Not only did this cut down on construction time, but it minimised disruption at the airport and reduced waste. In addition to this, the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam has an in-use BREEAM Good certification.
